Brian D. Byers — Producer for Savannah Weekend

Brian David Byers was born in Fort Benning Georgia. In 1992 he graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration and was hired by Richard Hefter (creator of Sweet Pickles) to be the animation director for his company.

The Savannah College of Art and Design then hired Brian as a professor of multimedia deign and post production. Brian worked at the college for a year before venturing out to San Francisco in 1995 to become art director at Mondo Media where he worked designing intellectual properties, video games, and even worked with Bill Gates on one of the very first online games for the growing world wide web.

Brian then moved to the east coast working in Boston and New York bringing to life such characters as Curious George, Fisher Price Little People, The Rescue Heroes and Barbie. Brian took a step away from animation to start a brand new career in the live-action forum where he created many award winning short films like Street (2011)_ and Sara’s Crossing (2014). He is also known for creating and producing the popular TV series My Five Wives (2013) for TLC.

Brian spent 5 years teaching college students how to thrive in a world where film and media are colliding in such a way that the technical side is becoming just as important as the storytelling.

Brian now lives in Savannah, Georgia with his wife, Jen, and their 5 kids (6 on the way) working for WTOC as the producer for Savannah Weekend. www.YourSavannahWeekend.com
