The NEW Girl Scout Cookie is HERE!

The Girl Scouts just made your New Year resolution to eat healthier a whole lot easier with their new Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie!

If a heavenly blend of caramel and semi-sweet chocolate chips with a sprinkle of sea makes your eyes water, when you make your first (or second, or third) order of Girl Scout cookies this year, do yourself a favor and try a box of these scrumptious snacks.

The much-anticipated Girl Scout cookie-selling season, which begins on Jan 2nd each year, is a longstanding program within the Girl Scouts, serving as an invaluable exercise for young women to help build confidence, independence, business savvy, and networking skills within their community.

Beginning with a simple sugar cookie recipe in 1922 (which is still available on their website), there is now a total of ten deliciously different varieties to choose from, with this year’s Caramel Chocolate Chip addition being the second Gluten-Free option next to Toffee Tastic.

From Thin Mints to Tagalongs, Do-si-dos to Savannah Smiles, your average Savannahian is no stranger to the Girl Scouts, both their cookies and their causes.

Founded right here in Savannah by Juliet Gordon “Daisy” Lowe in 1912, the organization has evolved into an international pillar of empowerment for young women, with 2 million girl members and a staggering 50 million Girl Scout alums!

Based on positive character-building and skills-focused leadership training, Lowe’s first scouts hiked and camped, swam and played basketball, even learning how to navigate the outdoors using only stars. Lowe’s vision of aiding the development capable and confident women cared little for the gendered limitations of the time.

Community interaction and networking is also a large part of the Girl Scouts program. Funds raised from the cookie sales are re-invested locally to provide the scouts with opportunities to take trips and engage in STEM-related programs and activities.

Don’t happen to know any girl scouts? Fret not! Just go to their website, Girl Scouts Website <<< and enter your zip code on the front page. You will be provided with a list of locations of nearby booths. Or just download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder App on your phone and you can find the nearest cookie booth at the tap of a finger wherever you are.
