Pimento Cheese-Stuffed Burgers

Why put cheese on top of a burger when you can stuff it INSIDE the burger?! We are putting a Southern spin on a traditional hamburger by stuffing it with creamy pimento cheese.

Pimento Cheese-Stuffed Burgers

Makes: 2

  • 1 LB. Ground Chuck (80/20)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Pimento Cheese
  • Hamburger Buns and Toppings

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and a couple dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Form four (4) 4-ounce balls with the ground beef.
  2. Using a frying pan, smash each ball of meat to create a thin, yet wide hamburger patty. The hamburger patties should be wide enough to hold a spoonful (or more) of pimento cheese in the middle without touching the sides.
  3. Place a spoonful of pimento cheese in the middle of two hamburger patties. Stack the empty hamburger patties on top of the pimento cheese, and then crimp the sides shut to lock in the cheese. Form them into standard circular hamburger patties (flat on top and bottom to ensure even cooking).
  4. Using a grill or cast-iron pan, cook the hamburgers over medium heat, flipping them at least once. NOTE: They will need to cook slightly longer than normal hamburgers in order to cook all the way through. The cheese inside the burgers may cause them to swell up and potentially open at the sides, so you want to keep an eye on them and poke the center of the burgers with a knife if this happens. Don’t attempt to flatten them while cooking, as it will cause the sides to burst open.
  5. With the burgers cooked, let them sit for about five minutes to let the molten cheesy lava inside the burgers cool. Stack them on a bun with your favorite toppings/condiments, and enjoy the pimento cheese-infused goodness.
